Habitat: Day One
What a fine time we had!
Our class gathered in the library, met some live snails, created play dough bugs and played with woodland critters (plastic) in the sensory table.
After story and snack, it was time for outdoor adventures!
We were introduced to 3 habitats: woods, meadow and pond. We heard birds and chipmunks, crickets and crows.
At the pond we spotted a frog in the mud, and stealthily approached a great blue heron, which envy one saw before it flew away.
I'd primed Sara Huber, our naturalist educator, that this group has a flair for building and design, so she led us to a wooded dell where the children wowed her with their creations of mouse houses, human forts, bridges, and more.
Kids also eagerly collected and inspected insects and creepy-craw lies.
We can't wait to go back next week!
