9/25

September 25, 2013

We opened our day with Observational Drawing. The challenge was to carefully examine a bunch of sunflowers, and record what was seen. The children approached this task purposefully; their drawings reflected their effort. Observation is one of the basic skills of science, so we look forward to the experiments ahead!

Painting, both finishing last week's sculptures AND outdoor easel work, was a focus of the day.

A felt road provocation in the block area sparked creative work- friends added lines to the roads, parking lots and a town for the vehicles to visit.

T
twig blogs also inspired collaborative play!

Another colorful and creative day!

The objects we found during yesterday's nature hunts were sorted by hue. What a variety of shades we gathered!!

Children glamorized our windows with suncatchers made from tissue paper and contact paper.

Here are some of the eye-catching results!!!

Today's question: What's your favorite color?
We graphed the results, which inspired the teaching of the song "I Can Sing a Rainbow."

We are looking for recycled materials-particularly paper towel tubes for a project-but any intriguingly shaped recyclable would be warmly received. The children are having a ball making somethings from nothings!

What a wonderful week it has been!

The  word on all the teacher's lips is: CREATIVITY. The hallway bulletin board will offer a glimpse of what we've seen over the past few days.

No matter what the medium, the 4 day friends are approaching it with imagination.

We're working through some Tech start-up challenges , but plan to share and post on this blog. Please check your email for a photo release for this format.
